About The Book

Hello... My Name is Leo

Hello… My Name is Leo introduces readers to a boy who was born with Down syndrome and an unshakable ability to see the beauty in everything around him. Narrated in Leo’s own cheerful voice, this picture book explains what it means to have an extra chromosome, i.e., a superpower, as Leo calls it. It takes children into his world of bowling trophies, towering LEGO creations, dance parties with headphones on, and quiet afternoons coloring with his beloved sisters.

Leo speaks three languages, cooks zucchini quiche with his friends Gianna and Anthony, and prays every Sunday surrounded by family who adore him. But more than a list of hobbies, this is a story about the kind of love that doesn’t come with conditions or limits.

Written and illustrated by Geraldine Aquino in loving memory of her brother, Hello… My Name is Leo is a celebration of a life that radiated warmth, a gentle introduction to Down syndrome for young readers, and a lasting reminder that the people we lose never really leave us—they just find new ways to make us smile. Every page glows with Geraldine’s devotion, ensuring Leo’s sunshine reaches children and families everywhere.
